2 slices of bread (white, wheat, or any kind)
Butter or mayonnaise (optional)
1–2 slices of cheese
2–4 slices of deli meat (ham, turkey, or chicken)
Lettuce or spinach (optional)
Tomato slices (optional)
Salt and pepper (optional)
Prep the Bread:
Toast the bread if you like it crispy, or keep it untoasted for a softer bite.
Spread butter or mayonnaise on one or both slices.
Add the Filling:
Place the cheese on one slice of bread.
